Donna Moen - Watercolors and Encaustics

 Donna Moen has been painting with watercolor for decades. She delights in capturing and interpreting moments of life. Her colorful works convey the personality of her subjects through the interplay of light and shadow. She is often commissioned to do paintings of people, pets and special places.

Donna’s more recent “fun” is painting with encaustics, a beeswax/resin medium. The fun comes in the less predictable medium which warrants “playing with fire”. Hot wax, applied in layers and fused with a torch. Sometimes adding shellac and setting that on fire! How can you top that?!

For thirteen years Donna greatly benefited from a weekly studio group hosted by William A. Phillips. She continues to draw support and valuable critiques from a peer group. 

She is presently a member of Peninsula Art League, participating in some of their shows and the annual Summer Art Festival, which she co-founded  and co-chaired for 12 years.  Donna has exhibited and won awards in numerous shows.
